We're Here

27 hours after leaving home, we were met at Cape Town airport by Mike, Nic and Patrick and warmth!

When we landed at Jo'burg in the morning it was 14° C and it is mid summer!! We had been bumped off our flight to Cape Town and had a 6 hour delay so Ed's friend Jannie sent his driver to collect us and take us back to his home for a wash and lunch. I had a snooze whilst Ed spent his time looking at Jannie's cars.

Last night Mike & Nic did a fish braai for supper and Pat joined us.

Mike and his team have been working flat out to get websites live before Christmas.

Ed has gone for a run yesterday and today along the beach - in training for racing at the end of Jan. This afternoon Nic and I took a picturesque drive along the coast to Hout Bay to buy some scrapbooking supplies to take with us to Wilderness.

We are all going up on Sunday morning early to meet up with Ed's mom, sister & brother-in-law, their children and grandchildren and my brothers, sisters-in-law and their families. Should be fantastic. We have hired a house in Wilderness for the four of us.

Rest of the week in Brief

In brief, as I was either a bit slack or too busy to write:

Wednesday
Luckily we had a chance to go up the mountain, as it turned out to be the only time in the whole two weeks dad & simone were here that the cable car was open.
We were also very lucky to arrive early, by the time we got down from the mountain the queue was hectic and probably would have taken 4 hours to get up to the top.

Afternoon to Muizenburg so Mike could surf (we finally got him away from his computer!). Unfortunately too windy, so as you can see from the photo he bought himself a bodyboard & flippers with his christmas money and we headed to the other side of the mountain to Glen Beach.
This evening we went to Moyo an amazing restaurant at the Spier Estate. Where we sat in a tree to eat, dinner was a buffet - but no usual buffet, there was everything and anything. We were also entertained and got our faces painted.

Thursday
I can't remember what we did on Thursday, I think we attempted Hout bay again to try and get on a boat to Seal Island. Then stopped in camps bay and had a little snack on the beach front.
Evening we went to the Indian at the waterfront, and back home in time to check in for the flights tomorrow night.

Friday - Last day
It was great dad and simone's flight was late tonight, so we had the whole day still.
First thing we all went for a swim at Sea Point pool, lunch we went to la perla just down the road, was one of the best meals I have ever had.
Lazed by the pool, then left for the airport, where we had dinner at the airport after dad & simone had checked in.
